Pastor Karl Atkinson has been serving at HPBC since November 1999. He graduated with a MDiv degree from Denver Seminary in 2003. His calling into ministry came midway through life after having worked in several previous careers as a public administrator and an oil and gas accountant. He strives to provide primarily expository preaching of biblical texts, applying them to daily life.

He has been married to Laurie since April 1989. Laurie is a software developer for NotionOne. Their daughter, Katrina, is attending St. Olaf College in MN, and their son, Kevin, is attending Conifer High School.

Karl has lived in the Evergreen area since 1984. He boasts the only known job that commutes into Harris Park.

Karl loves alpine skiing, and serves as a Mountain Host at Winter Park. He has been serving as Assistant Stage Director for the musicals of Evergreen Children's Chorale since 2005. He also enjoys hiking, riding his aged motorcycle and bluegrass music.
